Sichuan Delegation Visits BSRC Alexander Fleming to Explore Strategic Collaboration in Life Sciences and Biotechnology.
On Monday, 12 October 2026, a delegation from the Department of Science and Technology of Sichuan Province, China, led by Deputy Director-General Ms. Liu Jurong and including researchers and representatives from the Chengdu–Chongqing region, visited BSRC Alexander Fleming to explore opportunities for strategic collaboration in life sciences, biotechnology, and biomedicine.
The visit took place within the framework of the newly established Greece Node of the Chengdu–Chongqing Belt and Road International Technology Transfer Center (BRTTC) — a bilateral initiative designed to strengthen innovation and technology transfer links between Greece and China. Chinese co-builders STEC and Zhongxihui regard biotechnology and biomedicine as priority axes for the Greece Node, demonstrating a firm commitment to advancing this partnership with Greek research institutions, clinical centers, and the broader innovation ecosystem.
During the visit, the delegation was welcomed by Dr. Panayotou, Researcher at the Institute for Bioinnovation at BSRC Alexander Fleming, who presented the Center’s research activities, advanced laboratory infrastructure, and innovative biomedical technologies.
Discussions focused on moving beyond conventional academic exchange toward substantive, mutually beneficial cooperation. Both sides explored initial opportunities for joint research programs, shared technology transfer pathways, and investment mechanisms connecting the Chengdu–Chongqing region with Greece’s scientific network. Follow-up communications will aim to translate these discussions into concrete framework agreements and collaborative research initiatives.
