Georgios Pavlopoulos Research Group

Welcome to the Bioinformatics and Integrative Biology Lab at BSRC “Alexander Fleming” institute.

In today's big-data era, the exponential growth of information due to the latest advances of high-throughput technologies is indisputable. Therefore, efficient algorithms and tools for the extraction, analysis, exploration and representation of biological information are necessary. We are a group of bioinformaticians and software engineers trying to create scalable and efficient applications dedicated to biological problem solving. While our activities are applicable to many different areas varying from cancer research to environmental sciences, we mainly focus on network analysis, data integration and multi-omics approaches, hoping to understand the function, the dynamics and the evolution of complex biological systems.

Our main research areas of interest are:

  • Genomics
  • Metagenomics
  • Biological Networks
  • Big-Data
  • Text Mining
  • Data Visualization
  • High Performance Computing
  • Data Integration
  • Machine Learning
  • Functional Annotation
  • Knowledge Management & Representation
  • Personalized Medicine
