Alexis Matralis Research Group

Our group’s main focus revolves around the development of bioactive molecules against complex human diseases, such as fibrosis and autoimmune disorders, as well as tropical diseases like malaria. Towards that end, we use state-of-the-art Medicinal Chemistry approaches including the design, synthesis and pharmacological evaluation (in vitro and in vivo) of novel molecules endowed with new mechanisms of action. Our projects are multidisciplinary in nature and involve a seamless integration of:

• Synthesis of heterocyclic compounds

• Chemical Biology, Enzymology

• Molecular Pathophysiology and animal modeling (in collaboration with other labs)
