Post-doctoral Position – Intestinal Immunology - Kollias Lab (04/04/2014)

A position for a highly motivated post-doctoral scientist is available in the lab of Dr. George Kollias, at BSRC Fleming.

The project, which is part of an Advanced ERC grant that has been awarded to the lab, will be tackling the hypothesis that mesenchymal cells (MCs) are capable of directly sensing and metabolizing innate signals from microbiota or cytokines in order to exert homeostatic epithelial and immunological regulatory functions in the intestine. The specific project that the selected applicant will pursue, will focus on dissecting the role played by MCs in shaping the immune cell repertoire in the intestine and as lymphoid tissue organizers under normal or proinflammatory conditions in appropriate mouse models.

Applicants should have a PhD in Life Sciences and a strong background in molecular and cellular biology, mouse genetics, biochemistry or immunology. At least one high impact, first-author publication is required.
The position offers excellent opportunities for career development and competitive starting remuneration depending on qualifications, with the possibility of further adjustments linked to project development. The appointment will be initially for a year and can be renewed.
