Marie Curie Fellowship – Early Stage Researcher, Institute of Molecular Oncology (23/01/2012)
A 17-month Marie Curie Fellowship for an Early Stage Researcher under
the DisChrom Marie Curie ITN (www.dischrom.eu) is available in the lab
of John Strouboulis. The project aims to characterize in mouse Embryonic
Stem Cells the protein interacting partners and genomic targets of
mutants of the mouse DNMT3B DNA methyltransferase associated with the
human ICF (Immunodeficiency, Centromeric Instability Facial Anomalies)
syndrome. Applicants must have proven knowledge of basic cell culture
and molecular biology techniques. The successful candidate will be
trained in gene targeting in ES cells, biochemistry and genomics.

Predoctoral Position- Douni Lab (20/12/2011)
One Ph.D. position for a highly motivated young scientist is
available at the laboratory of Dr Douni, Institute of Immunology. The
research project is focused on the functional characterization of a
novel SLC25 member in mitochondria dysfunction and neurodegenerative
disorders in mice and is funded by the research program THALIS for 36
months. Candidates must have a strong interest in molecular genetics,

Marie Curie postdoctoral fellowship – Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (21/11/2011)
A 2-year Marie Curie postdoctoral fellowship is available in the
Strouboulis lab within the framework of the HEM_ID FP7 Marie Curie Initial
Training Network to work on the functional characterization of interactions
of the DNMT1 DNA methyltransferase with key hematopoietic transcription
factors in erythroid cells.
Requirements:
• Essential experience with tissue culture, biochemical and molecular
biology techniques. Experience with genomics and/or hematopoietic assays
and/or RNAi would be desirable.
• At the time of recruitment, applicants must be in possession of a doctoral
degree, or must have between four and five years of full-time equivalent
research experience since obtaining a Masters degree.

A position for a highly motivated post-doctoral scientist is available
immediately in the lab of Dr. George Kollias at BSRC Fleming in the context
of the GSRT SYNERGASIA project TheRAlead (09ΣΥΝ-21-784). TheRAlead aims to
exploit a "hit to lead" concept beginning from several validated target
molecules involved in the pathogenesis of Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA), to
provide successful candidate leads for clinical evaluation.
Candidates should have a PhD in Biology, at least one high impact,
first-author publication and proven expertise in immunology and animal

Post-doctoral and pre-doctoral research positions at the Institute of immunology (28/7/2011)
The laboratory of V. Aidinis at the Institute of immunology, BSRC Alexander Fleming is looking for one (1) post-doctoral and two (2) pre-doctoral research fellows in the context of 2 recently granted research projects focusing on the role of ATX and LPA signaling in pulmonary inflammatory disorders and cancer.
The successful post-doctoral fellow should have solid experience in animal modeling and/or immunology/cancer proven only by the respective first author publications. The fellow will be expected to be completely independent, highly motivated and hard working. Post-doctoral applicants should accompany their expression of interest with a detailed CV including research interests, technological skills, peer reviewed publications and contact information from at least two referees.
The successful pre-doctoral applicants, preferably biologists, will be expected to work on murine models of pulmonary inflammatory disorders and cancer, as well as with human samples. A position for a postdoctoral scientist in
Bioinformatics/Systems Biology is immediately available in the
lab of Dr. George Kollias at BSRC Fleming in the context of a funded
European collaborative project.
The successful candidate will be a member of a highly interactive
research group that operates across immunology, molecular biology,
systems biology and animal modeling. The candidate will be leading a
project that aims at the analysis, integration, comparison and
modeling of treatment response, -omics data from animal models
of Rheumatoid Arthritis and at aligning mouse and human data to identify
novel targets and translational biomarkers. The deliverables of the
project will include an integration platform that will combine both
experimental results with knowledge available in databases or the
literature.
Candidates should have a PhD degree in
Bioinformatics/Computational biology or related fields and
proven expertise in managing complex data from high throughput
technologies (such as deep sequencing and microarray data). Excellent
programming skills, including web development, database design (mysql)
and statistical data analysis experience, are essential. Knowledge of
scripting or object oriented programming languages will be considered an
asset.

Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Genomics (18/2/2011)
Reporting to: Dr Ioannis Ragoussis, Director of Genomics Facility
The Genomics Group focuses on the application of next generation sequencing
technology in functional genomics applications. One of major projects is
establishing of RNA-seq methodologies using SOLiD 4 technology and the
transcriptomic analysis of adipose tissues. Development of new technologies
will also be a major part of the work.
The successful applicant will have extensive knowledge of the standard
laboratory techniques for genomic and transcriptomic analysis. Previous
experience with library preparation for next generation sequencing work
would be desirable but not necessary. A numerical aptitude and some
experience of running software in a Windows environment and R environment is
also desirable. The applicant must have an adaptable approach to work and a
willingness to tackle a variety of tasks. He/She should also have the
ability to work without supervision, combining a structured and organized
approach with enthusiasm will be vital. It will be very important to have
the ability to communicate with a wide range of people and to enjoy working
as a team player with a lively and motivated group of scientists.
Main Responsibilities:
• To participate in the Research & Development for genomic technologies
currently being developed or applied within the group;
• To undertake research project work on forthcoming Research & Development
projects;
• To contribute fully via meetings, reports, and discussion to the aims and
objectives of the teams' scientific efforts;
• To keep up-to-date with literature, searching for relevant technological
improvements;

Postdoctoral research: Douni lab (10-10-2010)
The
laboratory of E. Douni at the Institute of Immunology, BSRC “Al. Fleming”, is looking for highly motivated postdoctoral researchers with proven track records to jointly submit proposals under the current
GSRT Call for “Support of Postdoctoral researchers”. The lab projects are focused on a) the role of RANKL in bone and immune pathophysiology using mouse models, and b) the genetic, cellular and functional characterization of novel mitochondrial targets involved in neuroimmunological diseases.
Proven skills in mouse genetics, animal modeling (of bone, immunological or neurodegenerative disease), biochemistry or cellular biology will be considered.

Postdoctoral position: Kollias lab (October 21, 2010)
A position for a highly motivated post-doctoral scientist is available at the lab of Dr. George Kollias at BSRC Fleming in the context of the GSRT-funded SYNERGASIA project «ΤheRAlead: Innovative therapeutics for arthritis». The project aims to bridge the gap between target identification and pre-clinical validation, exploiting a “hit to lead” pipeline, by integrating state-of-the-art tools and expertise of academic and industrial partners to address the development of novel therapeutics for arthritis in an interdisciplinary approach.
Τhe successful candidate should have a PhD in Biology or related fields, and proven expertise in the development and optimization of cellular assays. Experience with cellular biology approaches will be considered an asset. Candidates should have excellent oral and written communication skills, in Greek and English, as well as the ability to interact closely and productively with a variety of researchers from different disciplines (i.e. chemists, bioinformaticians).

Postdoctoral research on Animal models (Kollias lab) (10-07-2010)
The group of Dr. George Kollias at BSRC Fleming is seeking postdoctoral researchers with proven expertise in the following areas:
- Systems Biology: The project involves computational analysis and
integration of large-scale molecular data from normal vs. diseased animals
at various levels, including transcriptional, post-transcriptional, miRNA
and epigenetic regulation.
- Murine models of disease: Projects involve genetic analysis of
models of immune mediated disorders, dissection of molecular mechanisms, and
target identification and validation. The candidate should have extensive
expertise in working with mouse models, and in basic molecular and cellular
phenotyping.
Candidates must be highly motivated and able to work independently. They
will be part of an interactive research group that operates across
immunology, molecular biology, biochemistry and animal models of disease.
Candidates are expected to seek funding from competitive sources such as
Marie-Curie, EMBO, HFSP and national fellowships in collaboration with the
host lab. At least one high impact, first-author publication is required.

One pre-doctoral position for highly motivated young scientists is available in the group of Dr Iannis Talianidis. The position is funded by the Marie Curie Initial Training Network “BOLD”. The program focuses on studies of gene networks regulating liver development and metabolic pathways. The project, among others, will involve bioinformatics analysis of high-throughput ChIP-seq and RNA-seq data.
Interest in Computational Biology and MSc degree is desirable.

Senior Level Transgenic Animal Scientist (July 10, 2009)
The transgenic facility (http://www.fleming.gr/tggt/) of the Biomedical Sciences Research Centre “Alexander Fleming” (www.fleming.gr) in Vari (Greece), integrates transgenic technologies in the mouse for the support of cutting-edge biomedical research by the centre’s scientists, their external academic collaborators and biotech/pharmaceutical companies. The facility seeks a senior transgenic animal scientist to head its operations in the generation and archiving of transgenic mice.
The successful candidate will be heading a unit with two qualified technicians and will be in charge of the organization, management and implementation of transgenic protocols including:
• Gene targeting in mouse embryonic stem (ES) cells
• Blastocyst injections of ES cells and uterine transfers

technologist/flow cytometrist to support multiple research activities in
the areas of immunology, cell cycle regulation, gene expression,
phenotyping of complex systems and modeling of human diseases. In its
