Veterinarian (24/01/2012)
The BSRC “Alexander Fleming” is seeking a Veterinarian to be involved
in the management of a laboratory animal facility under in Vari, Greece
and under the research programs.
Applicants should hold a degree in Veterinary Medicine and have prior
experience in small rodents and management/supervision a laboratory
animal facility. The successful candidate will need to have excellent
communication skills, be fluent in spoken and written English and Greek,
and have basic computer literacy skills.
Duties will include:
• Management of the animal facility’s operations, infrastructures,
personnel & logistics
• Monitoring and planning of Experimental Licenses supervised by local
authorities
• Handling of animal care issues, health status monitoring and animal
imports/exports
• Training in aspects of animal husbandry and handling
• Maintenance of facility records

Marie Curie Fellowship – Early Stage Researcher, Institute of Molecular Oncology (23/01/2012)
A 17-month Marie Curie Fellowship for an Early Stage Researcher under
the DisChrom Marie Curie ITN (www.dischrom.eu) is available in the lab
of John Strouboulis. The project aims to characterize in mouse Embryonic
Stem Cells the protein interacting partners and genomic targets of
mutants of the mouse DNMT3B DNA methyltransferase associated with the
human ICF (Immunodeficiency, Centromeric Instability Facial Anomalies)
syndrome. Applicants must have proven knowledge of basic cell culture
and molecular biology techniques. The successful candidate will be
trained in gene targeting in ES cells, biochemistry and genomics.

Eligibility requirements:
- Applicants must be within their first 4 years (full-time equivalent)
of their research careers starting at the date of obtaining the degree
which would formally entitle them to embark on a doctorate in the
country in which the degree was obtained.
- Applicants must not be Greek nationals and must not have resided in
Greece for more than 12 months in the last 3 years.
- In the case an applicant holds more than one nationality, he/she can
apply for the position only if he/she has not resided in Greece in the
last 5 years.
Post-doctoral and pre-doctoral research positions at the Institute of immunology (18/01/2012)
The laboratory of V. Aidinis at the Institute of immunology, BSRC
Alexander Fleming (

looking for one post-doctoral and one pre-doctoral research fellow in
the context of 2 recently granted research projects (Synergasia 679,
680) focusing on the role of ATX and LPA signaling in pulmonary
inflammatory disorders and cancer using animal models.
The successful post-doctoral fellow, preferably a molecular
biologist/immunologist, will be expected to be completely independent,
highly motivated and hard working. Post-doctoral applicants should
accompany their expression of interest with a detailed CV including
research interests, technological skills, peer reviewed publications and
contact information from at least two referees.
Pre-doctoral applicants, preferably biologists, should accompany their
expression of interest with a detailed CV including research interests,
examination scores, contact information from at least two referees, and
a short statement analyzing their motivation to obtain a PhD degree in
general, and particularly in Greece and BSRC Fleming.

Postdoctoral position - Inflammatory disease pathways - Kollias Lab (6/12/2011)
A position for a highly motivated post-doctoral scientist is available in
the lab of Dr. George Kollias. The project aims at the molecular dissection
of pathways mediating the pathogenesis of chronic inflammatory diseases in
animal models. The successful candidate will be a member of a highly
interactive research group that operates across immunology, molecular
biology, systems biology and animal modeling.
Candidates should have a PhD in Life Sciences, and proven ability to tackle
complex problems in an independent manner. At least one high impact,
first-author publication is required. Expertise in immunology, systems
biology and/or animal modeling will be considered an asset. Researchers will
have the opportunity to do research in a state-of-the art environment based
on merit, scientific excellence and innovation, as well as to benefit from
the Center's Core Facilities (including Animal house, Expression profiling,
Protein Chemistry, Transgenesis, Genotyping and Phenotyping, BioIT as well
as Technology Transfer). The position offers competitive remuneration and
